Shield
Empowering communities to stop deadly violence
The Shield solution
Shield is a national information system supporting affected communities and authorities to take proven actions that switch high-risk people from violence to non-violence.
Shield is built on research, evidence, and practical information from target countries and around the world on what works to reduce violence in different communities.
The system tracks every reported incident of deadly violence across a country and gathers evidence, tip-offs and information on responses and risk. We produce easy-to-use and culturally informed resources.
Finding and empowering all stakeholders
Shield reaches out and finds stakeholders in all affected communities and authorities through relevant platforms and local partners in target countries. Stakeholders include witnesses, law enforcement, community leaders, concerned citizens, violence interrupters, and high-risk people – from warlords to mercenaries and gang members.
We assist them with violence reduction work to suit their interests, then provide resources, training, and reporting options.
